Tilted Tone
Project Description
This is a microcontroller project that uses an accelerometer to define the tilt of
the device and emits a tone based on the tilt. I used few parts for this
project: An Arduino microcontroller, an accelerometer, and a piezo speaker. The
accelerometer takes a reading of milliges, and the arduino takes
that reading, and based upon it emits a tone.
Detailed description for build:
1. Wire up the accelerometer according to the Make Magazine video.
2. Put the piezo speaker into digital pin 12. 3. Write the code
4. Upload the code
Inspiration
I’ve always wanted to make an arduino project and now I have the opportunity. This was my first real arduino project, but I’ve loved “makey” sorts of things almost all my life. I read Make magazine, and boingboing, and evilmadscientist too. This will help solve the problem of people not knowing about this sort of thing. Most people think that in order for them to learn about electronics, they have to take classes and get books and spend a lot of money. But really you can learn everything from the internet. Sometimes it can cost a lot of money and time, but be very rewarding. By showing people that it is easy and simple, they can be inspired to do it themselves.
Who will enjoy this the most?
Everyone will enjoy it a lot. Little kids will enjoy playing with it. Older kids will enjoy making it. Adults will enjoy watching the kids enjoy whatever they enjoy about it. And… well you might just have to find out.
