Survival Simulator

Project Description

Well, I'd expect that title was pretty self-explanatory. Instructions are in the game (and it's a very complicated game) - just go to Help > Help.

The game has been in the making since January, though from February to mid-May it was completely ignored by me.

It was written in a very simply programming language Just BASIC - and the source is included in the files. Enjoy!

Download here: randommefiles.host56.com/Survival-1-2-2.zip (don't worry, the site's mine and can be trusted)

EDIT JUNE 18 - 1.2.1 is the current version now, with many bug fixes and the executable now has an icon (!)

EDIT AUGUST 7  - 1.2.2 is the current version now, offering a newer, easier interface, less annoying popup windows, and a few bug fixes. There's also a SimCity-style news ticker at the bottom, which replaces most popups.

Inspiration

Somebody in my class created a text-only version of this, with many less features and much less enjoyable.

Who will enjoy this the most?

People who like simple-GUI'd, complicated puzzle games.

The Project

PLEASE NOTE: The images you see below are slightly out-of-date. The GUI has been changed since these photos were taken and thus what you will see when you download will be somewhat different.

And here are some images with the updated GUI, but it's running in LINUX so the buttons looks kinda windows98ey. When you're running it on a Windows it will fit in with your OS's GUI.

You can buy, and sell all sorts of different commodities at varying prices, giving the game a stock-exchange component once you have built a marketplace. You can earn gold by working (an option only once you have built a marketplace).

You can also adopt to raise your population.

Harvest, build a marketplace, have fun, hunt, cut down wood, work, buy, sell, cook, adopt, waste time, with a few suprises along the way (some events are triggered randomly)! You'll get endless entertainment from this game once you get the hang of it!
