Projeto Jogo Limpo

Project Description

Logo of Projeto Jogo Limpo

Through partnerships with corporations, NGOs and the community, Projeto Jogo Limpo (or “Jogo Limpo Project” – in Portuguese, “Jogo Limpo” is the same as “fair play” or “clean game”) involves children and teenagers of Uberlândia (and cities around) in the social cause, through theoretical and practical activities that go beyond the classroom, creating awareness and making them agents of their environment.

Students also have access to many playful materials, such as animated cartoons, puzzles and “livros-gibis” (mixture of books and comics, more than eighty thousand copies have been printed). All these materials have motifs of “Turma dos 5 Jovens” (Team of 5 Youngsters), formed by characters Leo, Cecilia, Reggae, Strong and Matheus. They are five young Brazilian friends, who learn with their own mistakes and develop the love for nature and desire to build a better world.

The activities undertaken by Projeto Jogo Limpo embrace schools of basic education in Uberlândia, focusing on public education. They also have been shown in other places and are shared on the Internet (www.opa.org.br/jogolimpo).

The objective of the project is to make the students able to:

1) (Ecology) Adopt responsible attitudes in school, community and at home, leading to constructive, fair and environmentally sustainable interactions.

2) (Citizenship) Understand the importance of partnerships between business, NGOs and the community.

3) (Culture) Develop the delight for literature and art in its various genres such as comics, essays and poems.

4) (Communication) Understand the potential of information technology in graphics and visual.

Inspiration

The fast population growth and the strong pressure on natural resources caused an imbalance that puts at risk the survival of humanity. We must act now.

I have supported Projeto Jogo Limpo (my creation and of other people) searching to help strengthening the education towards a quality model that prepares the citizens for a sustainable society, seeking to show that human being and nature are inextricably linked.

If we want to the Environmental Education for children and teenagers achieves its goals, it’s necessary to enhance the protagonism, to make partnerships between public, private and citizen sectors and enrich the activities at school with art and culture. Besides, by including public school in this process, a valuable rescue of community and people's participation is exercised.

Students of today are men and women of the future that will build and lead our world. Now is the time to plant seeds, build critical consciousness and wake them to love and care for the environment in a responsible manner.

Who will enjoy this the most?

The target of Projeto Jogo Limpo is very wide: students, teachers, administrative staff of participating schools, community, partners, website visitors, etc.
