A handful of dreams
Project Description
After attending the nationwide English-language journalism courses at the "Journalists of Tomorrow: Summer School" held July 18-25,2009 in Barlad,Vaslui District,Romania with the help of several Peace Corp Volunteers I realized I had a new way of letting people know about those out there that deserve to be known worldwide for their achievements, but haven't had the opportunity to make themselves hared.I am talking about journalism. Those people, those international values, are still out there, waiting for someone to come up and make their names heard with the help of the present means of communication (blogs, socializing sites)to the next generation, the people of tomorrow. After the course I said to myself:“Why not? Now I have both the means(Internet)and the knowledge to do this.”Someone has to do it; one adult cannot draw the reader’s attention on the 12-25 year segment as easily as a kid from that actual segment could. The first subject for my Feature on Promoting National Values was going to be a painter, right from Barlad, Mr. Fortu Nastase, whom I met when I went to pick up my diploma that certified that I won the second prize in the International Art Competition “Nicolae N.Tonitza”,competition organised by Fortu Nastase. I went there for the diploma, but I was mezmerised when the actual painter/organiser met me face to face and gave the diploma to me. We had a 2 hour discussion about art and the ways I must pursue to enrich my talent.I took advantage of the oportunity and interviewed him. I thought back then that I must try and send throughout other peoples hearts the feeling that I felt when I was in the presence of a nationwide esteemed man.Even I,despite the inside knowledge on art and artists I posses, was stunned upon taking a look at what makes this great man tick, then how would the rest of the teenagers out there feel if I was to bring them this kind of encounters as often as I could?
Inspiration
Firstly, the nationwide English-language journalism courses at the "Journalists of Tomorrow: Summer School" held July 18-25, 2009 in Barlad, Vaslui District, Romania and secondly, the meeting with a fascinating painter from Barlad, that was about to be my first subject for a Feature on Promoting National Values. I can say that these 2 things inspired me to try and make this project happened.
Who will enjoy this the most?
I believe the teenagers my age will enjoy this the most, but also anyone that takes a few minutes to read the blog, because it is written in a pleasant, warm manner.
The Project
When I wrote the article I first wrote it in my native language, romanian. In the first day when the article was published, it had 85 hits, without any kind of commercial. In the following months I'll try and get a few more interviews with nation-wide known people, not necessarily from the art domain, but from any other interesting domain I can find.
