Free Software Code Repository

Project Description

The project aims to build a web site, where open source developers can hang the source code and technical information on programs with free licenses, in order that the code is available to the community in a simple way. The site requires a significant amount of web storage. It is necessary that it could be increased as the needs of the site require it. It is also necessary a system of website management.
All Authors who upload their codes must complete different fields:

Category / categories: Games, Internet, Office etc;Description of the features of the program * Programming language used;

A technical description of the code; License used.It will provided a list of licenses to choose. If the code is under any another license which the author considers is free and it is not liste; (eg an exclusive license for this project), the author may indicate this and attach a copy of the license. In this case, we consider that the license is compatible with the concept of free software and if so, the project would be published. If not, it would be communicated to the author and explained why

Is this code part of a software development project? Yes / No;

If the code is part of a project the project description;Contact details (Optional), In the case that any visitor wishes to the leave comments, contributions, improvements, consultations

It will be also the possibility to inform is help is needed; in that projects or other relevant aspects

Phase of Software Development: beta, final (Optional)

Revision of the Code (Optional)

Inspiration

Two of the fundamental freedoms of free software, are to study how the program works and modify it, adapting it to your needs and to improve the program and publicize those improvements to others, so that the whole community benefits. These two freedoms require access to the source code of programs. However many times it's easy to find the executable files, but hard to find the source code. This is especially true in some older applications, or those done by one person or few persons and made available to the community, but only executables.
So we think it would be important to create a tool to collect at least part of that "hidden"; source code and to offer it to the community. So the code would be available in an independent source with independence that the original project, disappear and were impossible to contact its authors to ask them for the code or any other problem

Who will enjoy this the most?

Developers interested in free software. I think it may be interesting for programmers who want to learn new and thus they can have easier access to the source code to be able to investigate.But also for people who are experts.When a user signs up, will be asked if wants to collaborate with the page.There is also a zone of exchange between the users on the page about how to improve it, to be adapted to the needs of users

The Project

This project is not completed yet, is an outline that we can thought it can be helpful to the community, but it still requires several steps to get started:Finding the funding for the storage space,Website design and test to see if it is appropriate,Designing image Project,etc.
For all this, we are working to begin to design and implement it on an experimental basis, and then try to grow by adding funding for the payment of expenses.
On the home page of the project: It will explain what the project is? and what is its purpose; There will be a projects search engine (by category, by state development, licensing, programming language, projects that require collaboration, user who sent the code..); Users will be able to register to post their code, or may do also anonymously.
